1. Johnny Depp was expelled from school when he was 15. At the age of 16 he finally gave up the school and started studying music and working in the movies.
2. One of the most highly paid actresses in Hollywood, Nicole Kidman was forced to leave the school due to serious illness of her mother. To support the family she had to work masseuse, but she continued to study art and work in the theater. For the first time Nicole Kidman appeared on television when she was only 15 years old.
3. John Travolta left school at the age of 16 because school lessons interfered with his work in modeling and acting studying.
4. Charlize Theron left the school when she was 16. To the advice of her mother she took part in the competition of models. After winning the first contest Charlize Theron took part and won in several competitions till she signed a lucrative contract with a modeling agency in Milan.
5. Jim Carrey’s early career was very difficult. Family was always short of money, sometimes they even had to live in the wagon, and his first appearance in the comedy club was a failure. The school he had to quit due to work at a steel plant.
6. Sir Michael Caine was nominated for an Oscar every decade from 1960 to 2000. At school he studied very poorly and left it when he was 15. Acting career initially was too hard. Real recognition an actor received only after 30 years.
7. Cher – the winner of the Oscar, Grammy, Emmy and three Golden Globe, left the school at age of 15. School education was hard for her because of the dyslexia, but the music lessons and acting skills did not cause difficulties.
8. Russell Crowe was nominated for three Academy Award and left the school at the age of 15 to devote more time to the music and acting work, and thus help his family.
9. Robert De Niro – Oscar winner and Golden Globe Award, made his debut at the age of 10 by playing the Cowardly Lion in a school production of “The Wizard of Oz”. But the school he never graduated, leaving it in 16 years to become a professional acting.
